Sudoku Sensei · Last updated 27 September 2026
I'm Abdelrahman Ibrahim, and I make Sudoku Sensei on my own. The app has no accounts. Your games, streaks, statistics and settings are kept on your device. I don't collect them, and I don't run any servers they could be sent to. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, and Google processes some device data to show them. Game Center and App Store purchases go through Apple.
Data stored on your device
Your current games, puzzle history, daily results and streaks, statistics, technique progress and settings are saved on your device only. I don't upload them anywhere, and they don't sync between your devices. Deleting the app deletes them.
I haven't put any analytics or crash-reporting code in the app. The only third-party code in it is Google's ad SDK, covered below. The app never asks for your name, email address, contacts, photos or location.
If you've turned on Share with App Developers in iOS (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may send me crash logs and usage statistics for the app. Apple says these reports don't identify you.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version shows Google AdMob ads in two places. Sometimes a full-screen ad appears after you finish a puzzle, never while you're playing and no more than once every three minutes. A video ad plays only if you tap to watch one for an extra hint. There are no banner ads. To show and measure these ads, Google may process:
- your device's advertising identifier, but only if you allow tracking;
- your IP address, and a rough location worked out from it;
- information about your device and its operating system;
- ad views and taps;
- crash and performance data from the ad SDK.
Google uses this to show ads, stop the same ad appearing too often, detect fraud, measure how ads perform and, if you allowed tracking, personalise the ads you see.
- The first time you open the app, after the short introduction and before any ad loads, iOS asks whether Sudoku Sensei may track your activity across other companies' apps and websites. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", you still see ads, but Google doesn't personalise them with your advertising identifier. You can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- If you have Pro (a subscription or the lifetime purchase), the app shows no ads and doesn't start Google's ad SDK when it opens.
- Google explains how it uses this data in the Google Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Game Center (Apple)
If you're signed in to Game Center, the app sends your time for the daily puzzle to the daily leaderboard when you finish it on the day. A time on a regular Expert game goes to the Expert leaderboard, but only if you solved it without hints or mistakes. Other Game Center players may see your Game Center name and times on those leaderboards, depending on your Game Center settings. Achievements are saved to your Game Center profile. Apple handles this data under the Apple Privacy Policy. You don't need Game Center to play, and you can sign out in Settings → Game Center.
Subscriptions and purchases (Apple)
Sensei Pro is sold through the App Store as a yearly or monthly subscription that renews automatically, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Apple handles payment. I never see your card details, name or email address. The app uses Apple's StoreKit, on your device, to check whether you've bought Pro. Apple sends me sales reports that don't identify anyone. You can manage or cancel a subscription in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Support requests
Support happens through GitHub issues, which are public. Anything you write there, and your GitHub username, can be seen by anyone, so leave out personal details. GitHub handles that data under the GitHub Privacy Statement. You can edit or delete your own issues and comments at any time.
Children
Sudoku Sensei is a general-audience puzzle game. It is not directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect personal information from children. The free version shows ads, as described under Advertising above.
Your choices
- Tracking: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Ad personalisation: the Tracking setting above, and your Google ad settings.
- Game Center: Settings → Game Center.
- Deleting your data: delete the app, which removes everything it saved. I don't hold anything else about you, unless you've emailed me. Your Game Center scores and achievements are held by Apple, and you can make requests about them at privacy.apple.com. Ad data held by Google is covered by the Google links above.
Changes
If I change this policy, I'll post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
